    Actinic Payments

We have been using Actinic Payment for a few months now and overall things are going very well.

However, since the switch we have had a significant increase in orders which do not complete at the payment stage and people emailing saying that there card is declined.

    Has anyone else found this?

Obviously it could be becasue we have also switched payment provider to Elavon through Santandar and they might be the issue. However, using the same card details we can often process the card over the phone through our shop terminal.

The decision to authorise or decline is made by the bank, in this case Elavon. Actinic Payments is simply the messenger.

I believe that some of the banks apply different rules to ecommerce and telephone orders, which could explain the the behaviour your are experiencing as they may decline more in one channel. Either way, I suggest that you take it up with Elavon, asking for explanations on specific transactions.

      Hello,

With regards actinic payments we to use Elavon and get well over 50% being
declined. Elavon say take it up with creditcall and vice versa.

Great to hear if you have come up with a solution.

Our solutuion, we have added other payment providers, PayPal and WorldPay and the number of incompleted orders has plummetted!!.

As you say if you contact Elavon they blame credit call and vice versa.

          Hello James,

Thanks for that. We have been weighing up pros and cons of PayPal, Google checkout and I will look at worldpay. Do you have a preference between the two you mentioned. Any pitfalls apart from the high transaction costs ?

          Kind Regards.

          Richard.

I use Streamline / Actinic Payments and would reccomend the combination to anyone. Streamline charge me 1.65% for credit cards and 22p for a debit card, there is no admin fee, or minimum payment (as with Elavon) so long as you have a Nat West Account - plus of course the annual Actinic Payments fee.

My daughter chose A+L, now Santander as her business bank, tempted by their very low fees for banking, and the natural thing to do was to go with Elavon......the experience of which has been horific.....hidden fees, very poor customer service, no traditional invoice and so on.

Her contract with Elavon ends 28th December...and she is switching to NW / Streamline......should of listened to daddy in the first place.
