Lack of credit cards in europe - banks transfer?

Hi,

We currently have a online shop selling to the dutch and belgium market however we are experiencing alot (about 75% infact) drop out rate when the customer enters our payments portal HSBC.

After contacting a few of these customers the main reason for the failed transactions seems to be the lack of a banks transfere portal, where people log in to there bank after you website and transfere the money.

This seems to be because credit cards are not as popular as they are here in the UK.

This service can be offered by a company called http://www.ideal.nl/

Has anyone had an experience with this kind of transactions before or ideal.nl

There is a huge variety of payment methods used in Europe and different methods are the most popular in different countries.

You might want to look at our latest PSP integration with Ogone. Thye have a large presence across Europe.

Chirs got any more info on the Ogone ? did a quick search on the Actinic web site but came up with nothing

Yes, it's very recent.

It will be available in 10.0.2 with additional currencies and custom template support being added in 10.0.3.

I've just checked with development and it appears it hasn't been announced because there are a couple of teething porblems being worked through. Having checked the Ogone site I see that we are listed there.

This is almost certainly the way to go.

We do plan to provide the same integration for v9, but not v8 or earlier. I can't give a timescale for this at the moment, though.

Status of Ogone?

Is there any further news on Ogone? It seems ideal for mainland European customers, to whom we only offer Worldpay and PayPal at present.

Is anyone finding that using it brings in extra sales?

Is there any further news on making it available in v9?

Saw them at the Ecommerce show and if they are to be believed, they are certainly the way to go for EU sites. Probably the only choice in fact as they offer site customers all the ways of paying we don't use, which is particularly pertinent for the German market where they barely use credit/debit cards at all.
They certainly seem very professional.
We'll be using them later this year.

The Ogone integration for Actinic v9 should be available very soon, we just have to iron out one last minute glitch and finish testing it.

Sorry, v7 is no longer supported. We don't have the resources to backdate such work as far as that. It's just not commercially viable.
