Shamed by a comment from a customer, I rushed into a quick and dirty customisation of my AP page to get it to look a bit more like the main site.

it wasn't all that hard because my site isn't exactly state of the art design-wise. Essentially I just made a modified version of my masthead to replace the AP one, and adjusted the background, page width, colours etc. to match. It does look better now but I'll do a more considered job on it when I have time.

I don't 'get' this statement in the pdf:

If you are using any of Actinic’s desktop software products, you will also need to replace the
heading images for the payment confirmation (payment-successful.jpg) and payment failure
page (payment-failed.jpg), and edit their styles (.ekashu_header_success and
.ekashu_header_failed) to match any changes you make to .ekashu_header

I tested both a successful and unsuccessful transaction and didn't see these images appear at any stage.

        Aha. That would make sense.

Having gone back this evening to try some more radical ideas I must say it's really frustrating having to work 'live' - upload an idea, see the whole screen go bonkers, quickly upload the old stuff again...

It is a pain not having a preview, but you can do a grab of the source code and save it locally with few mods to test your CSS etc.
