This last month has taught me that one provider is not enough. As another sage pay customer who has decided to sort something out, those of you who run more than one payment provider (excluding paypal) do you run both of them at the same time on the payment options, or do you only implement the back up when the other goes wrong? I'm wondering if customers might get confused having 2 payment options to choose from to process cards. Say I decide to run Sage Pay and Actinic Payments together, how do you describe them in the list? Doesn't it look a bit odd asking the customer to choose between two names they haven't heard of?
I don't think there is a right or wrong answer to that Ben, true it could be a little confusing, but on the other hand the backup solution is there and automatically offers itself when first method fails, meaning you do not have to notice and upload to provide the choice.
I favour showing both and then removing the failing option once you get to know, i think that's the best compromise. As for names, something like:
Credit/Debit card payments through Sagepay
Credit/Debit card payments through HSBC
Paypal
I don't think most people don't even bother to use the drop down list unless they can't make payment and bother to retry. I've considered making the selection as radio buttons instead to show the (in our case) backup Paypal option as well.

Does anyone else use radio buttons?
I've just setup a site to use radio buttons, it's a shame that it requires a PITA script change that you have to redo, but i do think it's a good idea.
I can also see 'alternate option' after the second name being a good idea.
Does implementing the Radio Button mod still cause the PSP bounce page to appear in V10, I seem to remember this being confirmed by BruceT, but am not sure if a fix was ever made.
