"merchant not set up to accept payment this high"

Hi - I'm in the process of upgrading an older Actinic store and setting them up to use Actinic Payments. The client dealt with Actinic and got set up with merchant account etc, I set up a test account on testadmin.actinicpayments.com and put the details in the Actinic Business Settings. Initially it seemed ok, but when we put in test orders to higher amounts we get this error:

The merchant is not set up to accept a payment this high
Please try again

On the http://forms.actinic.com admin area where you can tweak the css etc for the gateway page it says their limit is plenty high, way higher than I'm testing.

Is this error because of it all just being in test mode? Or is there something I need to set somewhere?

Replying to myself - just in case anyone else is ever looking for an answer to this - Support guy says it's because it's in test mode.
