    Moneysaving Expert - Increased traffic.

    Hi all,

I am not sure if this is really relevant to Actinic Development but wanted to share this with the community in case they were interested.

I've set up a simple "subscribe" link on my site, with a competition entry to win a bridle (for horses). I am getting loads of sign ups so checked GA to find out where the traffic was from and found out its the forum on www.moneysavingexpert.com.

On their forums people post links to competitions e.g. Win .... xyz - our competition prize would be of interest only to horsey people, so its worked out a great way to increase traffic and our targetted email list.
I've also made a condition of winning that you have to have a live subscription at the time of the draw.

So if any of you have competitions running, then its a great way to increase traffic for very little outlay. (I'm sure you'd be able to sign up to money saving expert forums and post the links yourself)

Okay, I pulled the pin. Now what?... Wait!...Where are you going?

I also have a couple of sites with links from there (not competitions though) and it does prove to generate a reasonable amount of traffic.

          Hi HaroldLee,

Being the old cynic that I am, perhaps you would like to introduce yourself and your actinic site? Just copying someone elses post seems a rather poor first post to me.

Joining Mike in being a cynic a similar thing happened to a`client of mine who has a join our mailing list and you are entered into a free draw feature on the website if you join the mailing list. The site got added to a website by AN Other, where they list competions you can enter for free.

Result the mailing list went from 5000 -20,000. Was no longer targetted, each time we send a mailer now the result is no better than it was when it was 5000.

additionally if you go to an online mailing list website and look at prices - one example i found to send 5000 is $72, to send 20,000 is $150.

I'd expect most of her new subscribers will be interested in equestrian products. Everyone wants to win a TV or an MP3 player, so you get lots of entries, but not everyone wants a bridle unless they have a horse. Less entries but higher quality.

very true, but just be careful you try this with specialist products only. Otherwise you may well hear of your prize being sold for a song in the local pub

Would be entertaining to watch in a Central London pub...

Isn't a bridle what big fat sheilas use to pull their stomach in? Or is that a girdle?
