Meta Tags / Description for duplicate products

    Hi

I'm off the impression that its not a good idea to have the same meta tag title and description for the main product and duplicate product.

What do you guys do? Change the title and text slightly on the duplicate product or not bother with adding any info at all?

    Thanks
    Matt

Products are merely an area on your page. So the META information will be at page level (the section that you have the product in). Keywords and Descriptions can be edited by clicking on the section then the Details header in the "Page Detials" Pane.

General Opinion is that Single Product per Page, SPP, is much better from an SEO point of view. Here you would only have 1 product beneath the section, so that the META information could be edited specifically for that product.

I think the OP's website is already SPP (if thats not too many acronyms).

Ideally, you should have different text for duplicates if you want them to be indexed as separate pages.

        TBH I hadn't even looked.

You could have said "IMO I think the OP's website is already SPP, IYSWIM?"

In my opinion keep them differnet. Try a difffernet approach to the two and keep an eye on the results. If one works better than the other then perhaps you could concentrate on improving the page that isnt performing.
