    Site Check Please

We are a new Actinic User and would really value some feedback on our first site.

    www.denmanbrush.com

Just hope we haven't missed anything obvious!

I really like it - the design is totally in keeping with the product.

One thing to note is that you dont use single product pages, if you want to be able to do a google feed you will need this.

    2 ways to do this

1 The section, section, product approach ie
    section (lots of products)
    ..section (one product)
    ....product
    ..section (one product)
    ....product
    ..section (one product)
    ....product

this method is quite time consuming to set up, but is the preferred method

2 or the Extended info page where you add the ext info page, fill it with a decent product description, image and addto cart - these pages wont necessarily get indexed that well but you will be able to google feed to them

Personally i dont like Payapl Express as it places buttons in the checkout that make people thing you only offer them as the payment method, I prefer paypal website payments where you can offer paypal as a drop down box.

I'd change the add to cart to your own customised design - again just a personal niggle of mine (i hate the actinic css button - i just think its naff)

Also i tend to think setting the bounce delay to zero to allow customers to stay on the shopping basket page they then hit continue shoping to continue, after 10 years of designing actinic sites i still get thrown when actinic bounces the customer back to the product page after adding to cart. Other carts dont do it.

      Hi Jo,

Thanks for your comments, they've been very helpfull. We're going to implement a few of your suggestions this morning, i.e. shopping cart bounce, our own add to cart button and possibly PayPal. We'll have to look into making the other changes you've suggested as we're still going through a learning phase with Actinic.

The reason we went with the multiple products per page was due to time restrictions really. Plus the fact our sales and marketing team kept changing the products that they wanted listed didn't help matters either. We will definitely look at changing this when things have settled down after Christmas.

Any other comments/suggestions are very much welcome.

I like the look very professional looking - however I tend to look at things from a search engine and visitor searching view point.

For example http://www.denmanbrush.com/acatalog/...cessories.html your title is to short you should add some more text to it
for example Denman Hair Accessories | Next Day Delivery On Denman Hair Accessories | etc etc

I would also extend the html address to acatalog/denmam-hair-accessories.html
        I have no signature

Hi, Nice site. I am very new to Actinic myself so can't really help you there but I did notice that the site has a few changes in styling a cross the pages (the top menu colour and position). Was there a reason for this? And navigating back to the main site from the Blog is ... well I couldn't get it to work.

Thanks guys for taking a look at the site. It's funny because we were talking this morning about the very points you brought up Thomas. We've got Google Feeds up and running and have realised the majority of our short descriptions are completely ineffective for search purposes. For instance, the large hot curling brush on this page http://www.denmanbrush.com/acatalog/Hot_Curling.html has a short description of D76. We know what that is, most professional hairdressers know what that is, but the average customer looking to buy a brush wouldn't have a clue. Anyway we're getting the Marketing team to give us better short & full descriptions for all our products.

Cuan, the OwnYourStyle Ezine and Blog are on a separate domain and their styles are somewhat different by design. What I mean is that those sites are being promoted for different purposes, however the brand theme is applied to all of the sites. I'll take another look at the blog to see if I can get the links back sorted.

            Thanks again.

Don't forget also to have other keywords for people that do not know your product - I don't now your products however does not mean that I would not buy one if I landed on your site for a more generic term or keyword ie: massage hair brush
