Site SEO review ?

Just after a bit of brain picking here...


Went straight to no1 in yahoo for "drainage systems" keyword but very little in the way of traffic to the site (its only 2 weeks old)

according to google over 6000PM search for that keyword, but getting nothing from it ???

But in general, overall SEO of the site ?

I have to admit, I feel we've kind of done SEO reviews now. The suggestions are nearly always the same and it's tough to keep the enthusiasm going.

Maybe I'm just having a low energy day.

Anyway:

Top Tip: Don't waste all your page space with text on graphics that search engines can't read. Alt text on images also helps.

lol, yeah i have plenty of them.

It was more of a "can you see anything im missing" type of question rather than can you do all the SEO for me.

I agree your home page has little info in that respect. Whilst communicating delivery methods is important, I don't think anyone (unless your DHL or Parcelforce should dedicate 50% of their homepage to it.

You're using what is essentially a standard layout and Actinic is proven to be very good, in terms of SEO, out of the box. Unfortunately for you, it's very easy to get ranked in Yahoo and not so easy in Google.

I think you need to do some reading of the other threads, as Mike said it's all been covered before.

Start with putting a link to the site in your sig and see if you can get more, good, one way inbound links.

TBH you're going to have to wait at least another month before you'll see any trends in Google Analytics that will allow you to make educated changes.

In the meantime, do you use any other sort of marketing?

Yahoo will rank you because of the domain name, Google looks a little deeper.

If 'drainage systems' is your main keyphrase then you need to include that within text more than just once in the footer and better still as link text.

Have to agree about the delivery stuff taking up too much of the home page.

And getting good natural listing on Google will take time.
