    Reverting back to MPP from SPP

    I'm considering what the implications would be to revert back to MPP from SPP for my site Party Halloween

    For the vast majority of products there simply isnt enough to justify a page of it's own and if I bloat it out with text purely to fill the page, it could have an imapct on the whole usability of the site.

    Basically putting customer's off with a page of waffle, when all they want to know is what size the balloon is, what's printed on it, how many in a pack and the price.

    Also, the chances are, they might buy one halloween decoration and once adding to the basket be inclined to buy/want to buy more by returning to a MPP.

    Anyone reverted back to MPP from SPP?

    We haven't reverted, but do find that some products do need to be accompanied by a couple of others simply from the point of view of the customer usability experience.
    I tend to go along the lines of no single setup is perfect, for either customers or search engines.

      i'd consider putting the add to cart at section level or using duplicates to create shorter listings.

      then you get both and retain your spp for seo and google upload

        I'd agree along the lines of what Croccy has said, don't think of SPP as a single product, think along the lines of a single add to cart button instead. SPP for me is about one add to cart button, which can add a variety or different colours of one particular type of product.

          I use SPP for all but a few products where the main description / keywords are so similar it does not matter - for example size variations. Here are two examples, the first SPP - the second just products but with a parent section for the all important page name. All made to look similar

            Hello

            We have stayed with mpp pages and find they do better for us in searches, it's the old question of what your key words are and your likely search terms. So if you are aiming for search traffic for 'party hats' putting lots of party hats (particularly with lots of descriptions) on one page is obviously best for customer and search engine. But if your search terms are more specific, spp pages are better, I know one can do mpp at the section level, but it just seems to work better from a search point of view at the product level, maybe my imagination.

            I also do have google base working fine on my mpp pages, you just need to manually upload it.

              I tend to run a mix of MPP and SPP depending on the product category and exclude from Froogle running the view if there is not enough product text to warrant a SPP in the first place then Google will find lower than a snakes bum, so best to focus on the organics to draw in the sales.
