Will changing a wordpress blog title affect SEO that much?

i have a wordpress blog installed on my webhost. i am planning to change my blog title but im afraid to negatively affect my SEO for it.

will changing the title reduce my number of hits?

JUST THE TITLE of the entire blog. not the address

If it changes the URL then possibly yes. You could however set up a 301 redirect with an htaccess file.

this depends greatly on your content not just a title... or url

why do you believe it is having a negative effect, what stats are showing this (as these could indicate your issue) ... do other pages work well within your site? or did you install WP over everything and not redirect old pages, in which case yes you may have some issues.
