Free Postage on a Certain Item

How do I, step by step, set up free shipping, but only for certain products?

    Cheers,
    Chris.

How is your shipping currently set up? What version of Actinic are you using?

Id also like to know how I can make a single product exempt from shipping in only one zone whilst sticking to normal shipping charges by weight in other zones.

I have a group of products that I want to offer 15% discount on and if you are ordering in the UK you will get it deliverd for free. If you are in Australia you will get the 15% discount but postage will be charged as normal.

Its a basic requirement in an online shopping system. I find actinics discounts and shipping area quite rigid restrictive.

Well, we've got free shipping for certain classes, and free shipping for certain products, but not free shipping for certain products within certain classes. We're getting there - but do have a way to go before we can handle every single possible shipping option. I' have passed on your comments to the development team.

          Hi,
Along the same lines... I have about 15products that i have set up as Free Posting. However if an order is placed with 2 (or more) products one of which has free postage then the whole order is shipped for Free, which is not the way i wanted it to work. I would like Free Postage to apply to orders which only contain Free Postage products.

Sorry if that sounds a bit confusing

          I am using Business V8.

          Thx.

If you are shipping by weight, give these products a very large weight and have a tier in your shipping tables to cater for them at no cost.

              Cheers

I need this too but slightly different. Tried other threads but no solutions as yet.

I need to set a certain shipping cost (not free) for a certain product in a certain zone/country.

Had a similar problem and I thought that the best way to make it work via Actinic is to set up weight based shipping zones as usual in the majority of zones.

Then in the zone that is different, use category based shipping. Apply a set rate to each category of products that require a different shipping price.
Made sure to set a zero rate for the default items.

However, for this zone, no shipping at all is being charged.

Tried before setting a default rate, but then this was being charged instead of the category amount.

I keep searching, compacting and purging, but to no avail so far.

                      Got it working

Yes it is almost 1am on a Friday night but it had to be done and it is!

This workround does work. Information for you all.

So if you have an item that needs separate shipping prices in a separate shipping area or zone, set that item up as a different type of calculation within that zone (such as category - when all the other zones are set to weight - as explained before).

Important: You must ensure that ALL products have a category or that the default is set to something that you are willing for all the products to have as a shipping charge or they will be charged something that you do not want in that zone.

The problem that I had was that I had components set within a category ie the hidden products that were the choices to buy, but not the main product. (assumed they wouldn't need a category as not a choice in the basket).
So also ensure that even the hidden products and main products all have a category. Or else they will be assigned a zero or default shipping charge.

This means that for this to work in many areas, for different problems, within that particular zone, you will have to work out a standard charge for all items.

                      For example:

In the UK you have weight based shipping - OK
In France, you want to also have weight based shipping but there is an particular item which is free of charge or maybe a set charge.

Set up weight based for the UK as usual.
Then set up an area/zone (France) and choose a different type of shipping calculation - category.
Ensure that the product that has a particular charge in France is in a suitable category with a suitable charge.
Ensure that the default charge is set to an amount that you will accept for all other items
OR: Set all other items up within their own categories.
Ensure that ALL products AND their components are set to the same category.
The other products within that zone will have to use the same base of shipping ie category NOT weight. - work out a suitable charge for that Zone only.

A bit mixed up now but I'm tired!
