Class Description

When defining the properties of a shipping class, there are 2 fields: name and description. I am wondering what the purpose of the description field is.

I have changed the shipping options to bullet point choice. I would like to add a breif description to each shipping choice. Can I use the class description text as a variable to display alongside shipping choices?

Is there a simple way of displaying a brief description next to each shipping class in the checkout?

I assume this will involve editing the ShippingTemplate.pl but I have no idea how or where to edit

Sorry Jonathan - I don't know the way to do this. All I can suggest is adding text into the checkout page layout to describe your shipping options.
