    Shipping Confusion

I am confused after trying different methods of shipping.

The shipping prices seem simple in theory but I have been having some problems with implementing them.

Basically products can be divided into 2 categories
    1. Less than 3m in length
    2. over 3m in length

The shipping charge is £16.00 for products less than 3m and free for orders over £300.00

The shipping charge for products over 3m is £30.00 and free for orders over £600.00

Overnight shipping is available with the addition of £30.00. I think that once I can figure out the basic shipping, I will be able to easily set up the Overnight shipping.

I have tried using Category based shipping but come stuck when setting the free when over £300.00. The problem is that products over 3m will be free when they reach £300.00. Can anyone suggest a better way of setting up the shipping in this case?

Is it possible to align 'weights' with the lengths, so it doesn't really assign weight, it assigns length? You should always use the 'ship by weight' for the most powerful configurable solution IMO. Categories can be added into the mix if needed.

I thought of this, however I am unsure on how to include the free shipping when over £300.00(<3m) & £600.00 (>3m)

        Use two shipping tables.

Set the weight on your >3m products low so that the maximum qty someone is likely to buy will never reach the 'weight' of the first >3m product, and cap the first shipping table with a band starting at the £300 'weight' with a cost of 0.00 and ending at your calculated max purchase weight by setting 'Do Not Allow Excess'.

Set the wieght on your >3m products above the max allowed in the <3m table and create a second table for this ending with a band that starts at the weight equivalent of £600 and set excess as 'Take the highest rate'.

Thank you very much. It seems to be working now

However when adding another table so that customers can choose overnight delivery before 10am or overnight delivery am. The 2 options for <3m(less than) & >3m(greater than) is also visible. Perhaps I have done something wrong.

No, that should be OK. Customers will see three options on the under three metre length the <3m, the >3m and the Overnight, and only two on the longer pieces - the >3 and the overnight. This is because all Actinic shipping tables start at a weight of 0.00.

I know its not perfect, but it is the best you can do.
