Free delivery on item for UK only

    Hi

I wish to offer a few key products with free shipping for UK mainland addresses only.

I currently use the Zone/Class tables and have sucessfully set-up several zones all based on Parcelforce's weights and costs.

I understand that I need to use Product Shipping Categories and have setting up a category called 'FREE UK DELIVERY'.

From within Zone 1 on the 'Zone/Class Tables' I switch over to Category and entered the normal delivery price for this item in the 'Fixed Charge' box and no cost in the 'Per Item Charged' box.

I then changed the 'Shipping Category' over to 'FREE UK DELIVERY' on my choosen product.

As you can guess its not working.

Any help, is what I'm trying to do actually possible?

    Regards

    Matt,

Without seeing exactly what you have in your tables, it's difficult to see where the error is.

Here's what I would have done:

Create a new Catagory = Free Shipping
Create a New Zone = UK Free and place UK under it as one of it's Properties.
Create a New Class for this Zone = Free and select Catagory as it's Basis

Now if you go to a product and click on the "Details" Heading change the Catagory to Free Shipping.

I haven't tested this mind you, but I think it should give you what you want.

Lee is usually spot on with shipping, so if I'm wrong I'm sure he'll let us know...

Let me know how it works out.

give the products a weight of 999kilo and have free postage over 998.

use weight to choose, but the weight must be greater than any accrued weights of packages you do want to charge for

That's a simpler way of doing it, but if the same product is purchased form outside the UK it could cause some errors.

        Matt, do you ship abroad?

          Yes, most of Europe.

In that case you don't want to alter the product weight, becasue it will not calculate your Europe prices correctly.

I can sort of get it to work, although it appear that if you add another product to your basket it will ship this for free also?

                Free Uk Shipping

                Hi,

I also have a situation where a small section/selection of products we want to offer free UK shipping and then normal charges apply abroad.

I have multi-user v9 and followed the advise from webD with:

Create a new Catagory = Free Shipping
Create a New Zone = UK Free and place UK under it as one of it's Properties.
Create a New Class for this Zone = Free and select Catagory as it's Basis

I am failing on the 3rd step. I can create a new class for the zone called Free, however I cannot see where you go to select a category and link the zone upto the Category of 'Free Shipping'.

There is a drop down box under the Zone/Class Tables tab called basis.
Select category and you and then add your options

Hi - thanks for that. When I picked the Class I selected the Free Shipping box and it blanked out the right hand drop down box. I unselected that option, selected the category of Free Shipping and updated the site. The items are still being charged shipping even though the process was followed above.

If there are any insights, points for me to check then that would be great...much appreciated.

Can you provide screenshots of what you have setup instead, what you are explaining makes no sense.

Gave up trying this sometime ago, but now could really do with having this option again.

                        I've tried the following today;

Create a new Category = Free
Create a New Zone = UK Free and place UK under it as one of it's Properties.
Create a New Class for this Zone = UK Free and select Category as it's Basis

Picked a test product and changed category to FREE. Uploaded and found that on all orders both options for delivery were given i.e. the normal price based on weight and the FREE option.

It would appear that the FREE shipping option appears on all UK destination orders regardless of products chosen and their categories. Is this because you can't mix shipping by categories and by weight at the same time?

                        Regards

I think a way that will work is that if you stick with shipping by weight and then create in the UK zone a weight of 0 charged at £0. Then just add the weight of these products as 0kg.

When the product is ordered from outside the UK as there is no weight of 0 listed in the other zones it will pick up the minimum weight value
