Set up free shipping with time & geographical limits?

I can't even find any reference to this, let alone work out how to do it, but surely it's possible?

I want to set up free shipping across all orders from the UK over a certain period, eg the bank holiday weekend coming up, say from midnight Thursday to midnight Monday - is it possible?

I can't imagine that this would be easy to automate. The simplest would be to make the change in your shipping settings and upload on Thursday evening then revert and upload the changes again on Tuesday morning.
