It looks like it will be the 28th October.

The 450 x 350 x 80mm size for small parcels is staying the same but are increasing the size of the 160x160x160mm exception to 350mm x 250mm x 160mm, so in effect there are 2 maximum parcel sizes:
    450 x 350 x 80mm or 350 x 250 x 160mm both with a 2kg weight limit.

The Royal Mail consultation document can be read here:http://www.royalmailgroup.com/sites/...23_09_2013.pdf

and discussion of the changes here: http://tamebay.com/2013/10/royal-mai...month-end.html

Definitely Monday 28th. Inevitable, as RM were losing so much business to Hermes et al.

Oh good, glad I spent a load of money on new mailing boxes that are now unnecessary.

Really good news for some.Glad to hear that RM listened.
However, I wish I knew about this earlier. We got the notification from RM to say the changes had been introduced but nothing to say they were thinking about it before. Its a shame as the new sizes still don't really help us and it would have been nice to comment but it was too late.

An ideal size for us would fit between the small parcel and the new size but it would still classify as a medium parcel - quite ridiculous! Silly too as our parcel would be easier to carry on a bike or walk with than the small parcel.
