    Newbie E-commerce troubles

    Hello,

I am currently developing a fashion website for a customer who has little IT knowledge. She wishes to sell many products but has only a few items of each e.g. one brand of shoe with 1 unit for four different sizes in gold and the same for silver. What would the best way of selling these products be as I know that all the purchase / stock data is stored offline. Could this cause stock issues?

Also she has yet to set up a merchant account or anything as she is waiting for my guidance. Having never set up an e-commerce or Actinic store before I'm not really sure what guidance to offer her.

Also she has given me a list of prices but the software adds VAT on automatically - does she have to pay VAT on everything she sells?

I've set up a small demo store for her and the software is great to use, I'm just a bit unsure of the e-commerce / law implications.

Any help would be greatly appreciated (sorry the list was so long!).

1 Consider Mole Ends auto upload/download schedule to keep stock control inline. Tyou will have to set up hidden products to get your SC working accurately (there are many other posts about this)

2 See http://www.pinbrook.net/actinic/acti...nt_methods.htm for info on taking payments

3 Your client will have to look into the VAT side, she should know if she is VAT registered or not. You can tell actinic whether to add VAT to prices. View Menu|BusinessSettings|Tax

4 you will also need to look at Distance Selling Regs http://www.dti.gov.uk/ccp/topics1/guide/distsell.htm
