settings for linux servers using plesk

We are moving away from a RaQ4 based server to an Linux PC based server that uses PLESK to configure the virtual sites.

Does anyone know of any "typical" settings for servers using PLESK 7.5 to administer sites?

    Hi there

We found out while working with Netbenefit is that it does not work with Split SSL. There are some issues regarding the owners of the session file, so when a client had checked out, they where getting:

    Cannot open ../acatalog/filename.session

The reason is because of a limitation of Plesk, we cannot have the same owner on a file. So the client can either use a Payment Service Provider (Worldpay, Paypal), Actinic SSL or the java applet.

That's not what I was referring to. I was more interested in general settings such as cgi-bin settings etc. in advanced network settings. I figured since Plesk is a widely used web hosting administration system, someone may have gone down the route of configuring a site for it and I could save wasting time.

Re your comment on Plesk "The reason is because of a limitation of Plesk..."

What you appear to describe is an incompatibility between Actinic and Plesk. In my experience incompatibilities come about through two different parties failing to understand each others requirements. So for example Plesk didn't understand the way Actinic worked and Actinic didn't understand how Plesk worked. Its a brave man who blames the other party, because it is rarely that simple (but I can fully understand the parochial need!).

What I would say is Plesk is one of the major players in web hosting software used Worldwide by many (even if they don't know it). So it may prudent for Actinic to see if your system can be modified to work with Plesk rather than wait for the other way around. At the end of the day your customers don't care who's at fault, they just want things to work!

        Hi there

Thanks for the comments, i can understand where you are coming from. We have an ssl setup guide which we supply to the hosting company. The link is: http://www.actinic.co.uk/hosting/doc...or_Actinic.pdf
