Using 2 PC's to Manage Site

    Hi everyone,

In Chapter 4 of the Advanced User Guide, it describes how to use one pc for just processing orders & the other for catalog maintenance. How does the stock monitoring work or does it? If an order is received which reduces the stock by one, how is the catalog pc updated to reflect this (other than manually)? Otherwise the stock would continually overwrite old stock numbers on the site.

    Thanks

    Al

    Hi there

Stock Monitoring will not work in this condition, the reason is that stock monitoring in actinic only works from when you download the order, to then doing an upload.
You would need to manually change the stocks if you where to split catalog maintenance and order processing.

    Kind Regards

Is this still the case in version 10?

Yes This version of stock control is V10 specific (until V11 comes along) and unlikely to change as it needs to know the current stock level on site which can only be done though a download. If you download to the design PC then you risk downloading the orders as well which you do not want.

Not sure how they got those dates of '2005' on the posts as this is specifically related to V10, looke like time travel has arrived .

It's only 'Real Time' Stock Control that's new in V10. Previous versions used stock available at the time of the last site update.
