Offline and online stock monitoring

Hi all - I have a client that needs to be able to monitor stock both from orders taken on the Web and from purchases made in the shop through Actinic. They are going to use a bar code wedge so we are assuming that they have to scan the bar code into the search field in the shop then go to the item in the store and process the item offline manually - wont they have to put in all the customers details (as for online payments) and also won't they then need to download the order for the stock level to be updated?
Does anyone have another solution for this.

They might be better looking at an integrated epos solution.

Norman's done some work with the 'top 2 toe' solution and there's been some discussion about alternatives. A search for 'epos' will throw up the relevant threads.

PS. To answer your question. If they process an item offline, then the stock position will be correct on the PC but they will need to update the website for it to show the correct stock levels there.

I guess they can either use the customers real address details if needed or else just use the shops details.
