I am trying to set up acatalog with BT - so far they have been useless in providing any help.
I have read previous threads that claim you cannot run acatalog on BT servers but the guy who set up the account assured me that it was possible with their add-on 'Web Publisher Pack'.
Can some one please help me with the network setup.

root folder is /docs/
cgi bin is in the docs folder and is called cust-bin
and the acatalog directory is also in the docs folder and is called acatalog.

Thanks any help would be appreciated.

Send them (BT) the attached file which is in the actinic program files folder.

This should get you the correct settings

BT - Useless For Actinic

I was with BT about 12 months since when I initially set up our online store. Unfortunatly I had to move to a proper hosting company.

Basically, and I am no expert on this, BT do not allow full access to the CGI-Bin and as such the actinic cgi scripts can't be uploaded and used.....

All BT wanted to do was sell me there store frontend.

Thsy may have changed now but I doubt it.

How far does the network wizard get? That's usually the best starting point if you don't have the info to do it manually.

using the wizard I can get it to automatically recognise the docs folder but when I type the cgi bin as /docs/cust-bin/ and the root folder as /docs/ I get the following error:
An error occured while attempting to change permissions of the file ActinicBasicCGItest.pl. The FTp server returned a reply of 502. The current permissions of the file are 0664 and the required permisions are 0755. The connection wizard will not continue.

I emailed BT two days ago with the Mail2hst.txt file and they have not replied.

Hi there

Well the error is saying you don't have the correct permission to run Actinic.
We need the /acatalog/ folder that actinic creates to be a permission of 777 and the /cgi-bin/ folder a permission of 755.
If you are running a UNIX server then you could change the permission yourself via CuteFTP or a similar ftp program using CHMOD.

Looking at BT homepage i cannot see any information regarding the 'Web Publisher Pack', so i don't know if they are suitable for Actinic.

Don't bother with BT

OK final post to this thread...
BT won't host Actinic any more. They hosted it for a period of 3 months and said that they spent too much time taking phone-calls from people trying to figure out how to use the product and they obviously wouldn't be keen to spend their time telling people how to set-up programs that aren't anything to do with them!
We have moved the domain to another hosting company! This has cost us a lot of time and lost income while our shop has been down.

My personal advice - don't host with BT!

All BT needed to do was supply a network settings file and hey presto anyone can upload.

We do this for our hosting clinets and don't hear a squeak from them
