Custom Design

Hi,

I have been asked to develop a site in actinic, I've created how I want the site to look as I usually do, but I have no idea how to combine the pages, or design I have into an actinic template.

I've had a look at some other posters sites and some look pretty good. I've had a look at the design .pdf's from the actinic.co.uk downloads page, but still can't really get my head round how I can make my design into a template.

Does anyone have any advice, or do I simply have to try and keep going with the manuals until I figure it out??

Choose one of the clean layouts within Actinic and then start editting ACT_PRIMARY and take it from there....

I tend to strip out the superluous actinic code, especially the palette files and set up all formatting in the actinic.css file.

Be careful about stripping out to much - start by commenting out the bits you don't want check you haven't compromised anything before continuing.

I concur - clean themes are the best starting points for applying your own design... much easier than one of the more graphical themes...

for what its worth, what I've found in my early learnings is that the ACT_PRIMARY template is all important - if you can get to grips with that, the others will follow.

other crucial ones seem to be ProductBody.html and productline.

In my opinion, the template manager thing in the software doesn't make it too clear how these files link together, due to all the different tabs, but (tell me if I'm wrong experts!) it seems to work like this:

- productbody
- - actproductline
