    Multiple Stores Q (again!)

I know that variations on this question have been asked before, but here's my take...

I want to deploy multiple stores under different URLs but download and process orders centrally.

AFAIK, Developer and Order Manager is not the way to go for this. Can someone shed some light for me please.

    Thanks

    Lee.

it depends on what you mean by process orders centrally.

I have multiple stores under different URLs and process all the orders on one PC using catalog or business. All you have to do is change the site that's active on the PC.

What I want to do in my copy of Actinic Business is create 2, possibly three sites and download all orders into the single instance of Business for subsequent export to Sage.

I see that I can "License New Site". If I do this and switch sites, do I get a pooled view of orders across all sites or simply at the active site?

Each site that you license acts as a separate site. However if you are exporting to sage and planning to do the majority of your work in that site then you could just have several stores. The bad news is that you will need to buy a license for each store OR upgrade to developer.

My Automation moles for actinic have a new feature that is about to go into beta, it is a multisite option so whatever you are doing with them - eg order download, catalog upload, order processing - can be carried out on each site in turn. So if you went ahead with it you would be able to use this if you wanted to download the orders from each site in turn and then send them over to sage.

You might end up with duplicate order numbers - quite unlikely but possible - if you put three stores into one sage.

          Sorry, still confused.

Q1. If I upgrade to Developer, do I see multiple sites in the hierarchy on the left hand side of the Catalog tab combined with a single list of orders in the Orders tab?

          Q2.
Each site that you license acts as a separate site. However if you are exporting to sage and planning to do the majority of your work in that site then you could just have several stores. The bad news is that you will need to buy a license for each store.
I'm confused by the site, licence and store terminology here. Are you saying that each store (unique URL) requires a separate Catalog or Business License? Within Business I see that there's an option to "License Additional Site". What does this comprise and if licensed, do I see multiple sites in the Catalog tab but a single view of orders?

          Thanks

          Lee.

Each store you license within Actinic Ecommerce is totally independent/separate from other stores you may have - both the uploading and download sides will work completely independently of each other.

Thus you can run multiple store on the same copy of Actinic, and even upload them to the same server, but the stores will remain completely independent of each other. Therefore the orders have to be downloaded into the respective seperate Actinic sites rather than being downloaded into one 'central' copy of Actinic Actinic.

The only way to being order details together is to use Actinic Business with Actinic Link to transfer orders from different sites into one copy of QuickBooks or Sage Line 50.
