Problems on first upload with names.co.uk

hi there i am having the following problem, i have uploaded our website www.thecrystalcaveshop.co.uk and the cgi-bin does not seem to be working or there is a error with the script within it i have set the cgi-bin to 755 and also the acatalog directory to 777 as recommended and also tried various extention numbers for the cgi script,

however when i test the setting they all work fine but i do get an error message when i upload saying "AN ERROR OCCURRED WHILE SENDING THE MERGE REQUEST"

    any ideas???

There have been reports of a bug on the initial upload that gives the perl files the wrong permissions. This may be version specific but I don't know so it's probably worth trying.

If the perl files are in your cgi-bin, then check the file permissions. If they're 644 then change them to 755 and you should be Ok from now on.

PS. This may also be an ftp problem. If you have a firewall somewhere then you may need to enable passive ftp to stop it failing part way through the transfer.

Which problem was it? The permissions or the ftp?
