    Adding image alt attribute to images for site submission

    I'm in the process of submitting my site to various search engines.

    I'm trying to add an image alt attribute so I have more chance of indexing.

    How can I do this?

    Also is it worth it?

    Thanks in advance.

    John.

    By default actinic adds alt text to the product images.

    Which images are you trying to do this on?

      As Mike says says Actinic uses the product name as the alt tag on images. If this not adequate for you then you will need to create a customvar.

        Guys thanks.

        Yes it has done this on the store images Mike...

        However I've been using microsofts "Submit It". It gave optimisation options for adding alt text. It may not have seen this when I submitted the site for readiness testing they call it, (checking for search engine optimisation).

        I opened a script: example Act_Brochure Primary Left and added text to the IMG SRC line after the image as below. Ran the readiness again and it appeared to resolve the optimisation request from the microsoft tool. I had to do this with a couple of scripts as I reviewed (7) URLs on my site. Luckily I remember where I'm at if I need to change it.

        <img src="visa.gif" width="34" height="22" alt="hypnosis, relaxation, stress management">

        Whether it actually makes a real world difference I don't know as I'm fairly new to this game. It doesn't appear to have any affect on my site.

        To answer your question...I tagged the words below onto paypal and the card payment images. They still appear with the original file name.

        I don't know what it is at the moment but I'll look into creating a customvar and it may all make a little more sense.

        I'm relatively happy at the moment but let me know if I've made a meal of it wont you.

        Thanks to you both.
