    Network setup problems

    Hi

I'm trying to complete the network settings so that I can upload a test site to a Fasthosts Linux server. I've followed their settings (and in fact have set up another site with them with no problems) however on this one every time I run a test I get the message
Actinic received a bad method error from the web server. The server is not properly configured to allow Actinic to run CGI scripts from the cgi-bin. Run Web | Configure Web Site Details... to review your web site configuration.

This is apparently because it can't post to the cgi script. The permissions on the cgi-bin are 755.

If I run Web | Configure web site details, it tells me that .pl is a bad perl extension and to change it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated cos the brick wall can't take much more!

They might want the scripts to have a .cgi extension. You could try that and run the network test.

Thanks for replying but that didn't seem to make a difference.

I've since spoken to fasthosts who told me to disable scripts and then re-enable them. I think that may have fixed the problem because I'm now getting a message saying the path to the acatalog from the cgi-bin is incorrect, although I'm using what Fasthosts have told me to use!

      Its all a little frustrating...

Ruth, I'm having an identical problem. Phoned Fasthosts support line and they resolved the initial script permissions problem by resetting the script enable, but I still can't get the right setting for the path to acatalog from the cgi-bin.

If you do resolve it, I'd very much appreciate a heads-up on what the answer is - and likewise if I find it I'll let you know!

The frustrating thing is that the Actinic network setup wizard seems to be happy with all the settings, but when doing a 'test' or an 'upload' it can't seem to resolve the damn path!
