    New 2 Colum layout

    Hi,

I am trying to design a site with a header and two colum layout using the 'Clean Layouts' templates. This is straight forward but the client wants the search and the section lists to be on the left column, Navigation on the top bar and graphical icon linking to manufactures sections on the right colum.

This is similar to the clean layout 14 but not exactly what is needed. Is there any way that I can produce this layout simply?

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

this should be no problem to achieve - you need to edit the Act_Primary.html template in the root of Site1 folder. Open the template in say Dreamweaver and you will see all the NETQUOTEVAR's which are used by Actinic to insert the navigation, search boxes etc. Work in split screen mode and pick up and move the code to the desired position - ensure you pick up any <form> tags etc that may be needed to make the NETQUOTEVAR work.

Most are self explanatory but it may be worth downloading the Advanced User Guide for reference.

Best to take a copy of the Act_Primary first, modify the layout 1 step at a time and then save and back in Actinic preview a page to make sure the mods work as expected

I have tried to make changes in Dreamweaver but every time i open actinic the changes are not shown/saved. What am i doing wrong?

I am editing the left frame of the catalogue index page to insert links to this area.

To use dreamweaver with Actinic, you need to untick Compact HTML/CGI in Actinic then run a browser preview of the page.

From dreamweaver, you open the previewed html page which will now show the name of the template used to provide what you see on the page. At the bottom of dreamweaver, when you have clicked on the actinic symbol in the main frame, you will see the template name and an option to edit this template. That's what you need to do. Edit the template and save your changes, then go back and do a preview again in actinic.
