http error message (mds please read!)

If you ftp to your site and check the properties on the two folders and the two perl files in your cgi-bin are they 777 for acatalog and 755 for cgi-bin and its contents? I am able to see those files, but not run them - I can also see the empty acatalog folder, so you have made contact with your site and this is almost certainly now a permissions issue.

I don't know what your problem was in last weeks post.

Perhaps you'd like to repeat the information so we know what the problem is, what error messages you're getting and what you've already tried to fix it?

It usually makes more sense to continue an existing thread.

Sorry, I should have linked to the earlier post!
"I'm trying to upload a site to hosting.123-reg.co.uk, everything seems to upload fine until I get to the the analyzing of the site. It finds the cgi-bin & the acatalog directories ok, but then when I hit next, I get the following error-
"An error returned while sending an http request to the web server. Perhaps your network is down or the web server is down. Try again or contact your network administrator or isp to correct the problem."
I've got a reply, and they've sent me details, which i've followed, but I still keep getting to this stage and getting the error!
Confused! And getting annoyed as I can't get the site uploaded!
Any help on this matter would be appreciated!

I got mine sorted more by accident-same error exactly

Fist I would check the FTP path, you may not be on hosting.123-reg.co.uk

There are other servers hosting1, 2, 3 at least.

Check you origional email

Run the configure website & see what error you get.

i've tried the hosting part, hosting.123-reg.co.uk seems to be the right one, because when I configure website, I get to the stage where it ssee's my cgi-bin & acatalog directories, but gives me the message after i've pointed to the paths!

You're not using a belkin router are you? There've been a few threads about problems unless you have the right ports open.

No, not using a router at all. The Mind truly boggles!

OK. We've worked through most of my list of possible problems already. The network settings look right, the permissions look right, no router problems.

The only suggestions I have left are:

1. Try passive ftp. This doesn't sound like the problem but always worth trying.

2. What firewall do you have on your PC. Is it Norton IS?

I would suggest you contact our email support team at http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/register.htm as they will request your settings and try it for themselves.

Hopefully they can get it sorted for you.

Just got home & tried it again, and getting that same error

Worked yesterday ok

I have given up with it for the time being

Then it worked again after redoing all the settings-weird or what

I got the initial network to work ok, but it failed with the website error on wizard

Uploaded it anyway & it worked, then it passed the test ok-could it be something to do with the holding page?

I put the acatalog, & cgi-bin into root & set permissions
