    Newbie need help

    Hi

I am new using actinic to develop my online store

I want to include banners on the site and also i want to include some pictures on the bottom left of the screen displaying my "free delivery" icon and the cards icons.

Also how can i get rid of the search box from the main catalog page...

    Welcome to the site,

You can add banners and other images for free delivery etc into the Act_Primary.html, Act_BrochurePrimary.html and Act_PrimaryCheckout.html templates in the root of the site1 folder. Take a back up before editing.

The search can be commented out again in the above templates look for NETQUOTEVAR: SIMPLESEARCH

    HTH

for future postings often worth letting everyone know which theme you are using as they can vary slightly between designs.

        thanks to both of you

pinbrook i have looked at the guides but it was not clear how to add banners to the site

and my html is not good to say the least.

Can i use frontpage to edit the templates?

no don't use Front page unless you are an expert with the vagaries of it.

Use Notepad or Dreamweaver - if you have it

there is an opensource program caled Nvu, I haven't used it but i can see no reason why it wouldn't be compatible

          http://nvu.com/download.html

make sure you get the windows version

The earlier version of FrontPage were a pig for keeping clean HTML coding...version 2002 onwards are quite capable so long as you do not use any of the propriatory MS code ... for inserting simple images, tables and editing HTML etc it is fine .... I did my v6 site all under FrontPage 2002 without any issues

You can get a free professional editor at http://www.evrsoft.com/. Stick with the 2000 version until 2006 is fully rolled out.
