    Size limits

I'm installing a Standalone Demo on a Portable PC.
I have followed the procedure from Appendix A.

Everything has worked fine with the standard demo « site1 ».
When I try to install another example (a large one: 13000 products), it's « stalling » at the end of the refresh.

Is there a size limits ? I still have 8 Gigabytes available...
If I delete sections, it goes through...

    Thank you !

As far as I know there's no built-in size limit. Just recommendations as to what's sensible. There are some massive sites out there.

You may be having a problem with the amount of time that your Perl scripts are allowed to run before being killed by the server (to stop runaway processes from consuming all resources).

Have a look in your servers "error.log" (apache/logs/error.log)
to see if anything's reported there.

Actinic also reports some errors in "error.err" (in the servers acatalog directory).

Where do I change the settings ? In the Apache conf file I would guess.
          But under which line ?
I will look for something about time issue.
          Thank you !

            Hi Bernard,

Are you using WarFTP for your uploading, if so, is it the new version. When setting up localhost, i had to change the following in the "User Manager | <User> | FTP (Subtab) | Security", and then highlight "FTP"

Here is a screenshot on what I have got set in my version:

Change to your settings but... still not working...
If I hide a large section, it's getting through and the merge is complete...
But with the full site, I get permission error or full disk error...
My portable is a Acer with 40 gigabytes HD (two 20 Gb partition).
I still have 10 Gb free...

                Hi there,

Hmmm that is strange, Not heard of this issue on localhost, it could be what Norman has written regarding the perl resource. Have you tried this on another PC. I would suggest in getting Support in checking this on:

I just installed it on a standard PC. Went through the first time with less space remaining on the HD (6 compared to 10 gb).
I did not even changed the additional WAR-FTP settings.
The PC has WinXP professional installed. The portable has WinXP home edition. Both are French Version. Maybe something to do with the Home XP Edition. And, the problem seems to come frome my new ACER portable...

                    Hi Bernard,

Not heard of this problem in Windows XP Home Edition, although it might be possible. Another thing is it could be the portable ACER, what the spec for the machine? Is it similar to your standard PC?

                    Kind Regards

The Acer is new (December) 1,4 Celeron with 512 mb memory, 40 gb HD.
My PC is an AMD Atlhon 1400 with same amount of memory.

To the last resort, I will install WinXP Pro to see but I would prefer not to touch the initial settings of the portable...

The last error message I got talk about exceeding the limit of connections...
Something like « LF_EXCEEDING.... ». Sorry I didn't note it exactly. I tough I could find it again.... and I was not able...

                      Thank you !

Hmmm, that talking about concurrant connection, which I had answered previously with the image. Please could you make sure it is the user setting you are applying, and not the System Admin.

Now, I think there was something with the Acer !
I exchange it for a more powerfull portable (HP zv6000), everything went through the first time I tried the upload (I must admit, I was nervous)...

Thank you for your help and support !
