    Help! easily.co.uk probs...

    Hi folks,
I'm trying to upload a site through easily.co.uk, and i'm having weird problems
I can connect to my site via other ftp programs, but in actinic when in advanced network settings, I get the message - "Unable to connect to the FTP server because the specified username or password is incorrect" - which isn't the case! (bangs head!)
If I try to upload via 'configure website details', I get to the setting up ftp account part & I get " Wizard is unable to establish a connection with allyourneeds.co.uk for unknown reasons,
the specific error is 200 Type set to A. occured while checking the FTP transfer mode -- 200 Type set to A
    200 PORT command successful
425 Unable to build data connection: Connection timed out
    Try using the other mode."

    My settings are:
    CATALOG URL: http://www.allyourneeds.co.uk/acatalog/

    CGI-BIN URL: http://www.allyourneeds.co.uk/cgi-bin/

    CODEBASE: ./

Path From CGI-BIN to acatalog: ../acatalog

    CGI Script ID Number: 1

    Mail Server: localhost

    Website URL: http://www.allyourneeds.co.uk

    Path to Perl shell: /usr/bin/perl

    Path to CGI-BIN: cgi-bin/

If anyone could help at all! I will be forever in your debt (buy you a pint!)

    Frustrated Steve

A quick google search showed a 425 error indicates you have the wrong passive FTP setting - if you have ticked 'use passive FTP transfers' you need to clear the tickbox.

If you have not ticked the 'use passive FTP transfers' then you need to do so.

Thank you for that It seems it's that actinic has at least now found my site, although I seem to have been stuck on ages now on the perl installation part...it's been 'trying guesses' for the last 10 minutes, is this normal? or will I have to manually adjust the perl settings in advanced network settings?
On the easily website it says that the path to perl is:
#!/usr/bin/perl, which i've changed, but still seems to get hung up for gaes on this part?!
      Thanks,
      Steve

        Yip,
It gets to the Perl part, and then it asks me to manually enter the location, which according to easily is #!/usr/bin/perl
I then get the message that the network or server is down, which it isn't!
Can anyone advise? or does anyone else know what I should be doing?
        Thx
        Steve

You could try taking the hash bang off the front and enter the location as /usr/bin/perl - I use the hashbang, but I know many others do not.

May be worth checking your easily control panel to see what version of perl they provide and also check if there is anything you need to do to enable perl support.

            Hi there,
I've tried it with and without the hashbang, with the same results
According to easily, the path with the hashbang is where it is located, and apparently, they have no problems with .cgi or .pl files
This is what their site says:
            Useful information for cgi/perl scripts

            1. The first line of Perl in your code needs to be: #!/usr/bin/perl --

            2. The path to sendmail is: /usr/sbin/sendmail -i -t

            3. All .cgi / .pl files need to have file permissions set to 755 or 775.

            4. The location of your cgi-bin may vary. Please see 'Paths and versions' within "Hosting - Virtual Linux" and choose your Virtual Server hostname. Remember that the 'absolute server path' is different from a (browsable) URL.

*IMPORTANT NOTE* - if your Virtual Server is phobos.easily.co.uk or customersites.easily.co.uk , any file with a .cgi extension MUST be uploaded to the /cgi-bin directory in order to work. Also, the cgi-bin directory itself must be set with file permissions of 750.

            Help!

Is 1. exactly how it shows in the info page? Have you tried adding the -- to the location in Actinic?

Steve - can you confirm what version of Perl they have available to you?

thanks everyone for helping, now under advanced network settings i'm getting
"Unable to move to the cgi-bin directory "cgi-bin/" on the FTP server.
The specified directory does not exist or you do not have access to the directory." This is beginning to be a nightmare
