    Actinic Theme Customization

Hello. Helpfull forum. Im really impressed with Actinic it has made my life a lot easier. I have a question though,

How can I make my own theme to be used?? I nosed around the theme folders i am using the clothes framed theme but it does not seem to be as straight forward as editing the theme itself. Not all the html files are there, obviously actinic has a system for puttingthem together.,

I culd just edit the final site in dreamweaver, but then when i want to update something i have to generate the site and then edit all the pages again, bit rediculous.

Can somebody pls tell me how to construct a theme that can be used for my site all the time. Or how to edit themes properly.

Thnakyou very much, will be a life saver.

    Johny.

You need to amend the templates provided within the Advanced | Template Manager tabs.. There are a lot of templates within this area that contains the bits that are pulled together as required to create the finished page displayed to the site visitor.

Regards Saving a theme, go into Advanced | Custom Themes and then go through the process it explains within its dialogs.

    Hope it helps.....

Download the Designing with Developer Guide. I think the V5 guide is better) the good stuff is near the back

http://www.actinicthemes.com/acatalog/index.html you may find something that fits your needs.

Thanks for the help guys. Looks like actinic isnt as customizable as i thaught.

I need to have two extra frames in my index at the top and make a curve of colours up the side of the site etc, but it doesnt seem to hbe that easy to customise themes.

Not much freedom as far as that is concored, bit disappointing really.

        Cheers.

You can customise Actinic as much as you need.

          Did you download the guide?

I would rethink the design, you seem to be talking about 4 or 5 frames.....not a smart idea!!

              Dreamweaver and Actinic

Does Actinic use cascading style sheets and is that the basis of the themes or am I just not familiar enough with Actinic to be asking a sensible question? I'm going on a course next week and then maybe I'll find out the answer.....but it would be nice to know before I attend the course.

Actinic uses CSS and HTML templates for fragments of the pages. It is extremely flexible and can be customised as much you want.

I would wait for your course next week. This will all be very well explained and you will have plenty of opportunities to ask questions.
