having problems getting the site to upload, the test in network prefs gets as far as testing write permissions and then stops, permissions in the cgi-bin are set to 755

any ideas ?

The only thing I can think of is that the FTP user does not have permissions to write files in the cgi-bin. You may want to check this.

Other than that, you can register a support email at http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/register.htm and the email support team can test your server from their end.
