    SSL with IPowerWeb

    Hi,

    My provider has given this helpful text to using SSL.

    Q. How do I SSL Enable My Site?

    Answer
    A. To SSL enable your website please hyperlink the page that you want to be protected to the folling URL. Ensure that you change the example URL to reflect your host server, proper username and the correct file you wish to SSL enable.

    Any hints on how to get this working for checkouts only ?

    Which files would I need to pass to make this happen ?

    I get error messages with any of the SSL options.

    Any help greatly appreciated...

    If you want Actinic to work with SSL, you need good commercial webspace that is available to connect to via an https connection. This will mean you need to by an SSL certificate for your domain.

    Talk to your web host about this - I don't think their proposed way of doing SSL will ever work with Actinic.

      Which files do you protect with SSL ?

      Hi,

      Are you certain that there are no other options for getting SSL working ? I have managed to SSL protect various files myself.
      So the SSL works.
      It just requires a different setup.
      I don't mind doing this manually but I need to know which files to protect.

        There are details for the settings you need to configure Actinic with SSL in the main help file. Go to 'Help | Help Topics' and in the contents, go to 'Advanced - Putting Your Store Online | Setting up an Actinic store on both an HTTP and an SSL server'.

        From what you have said, it sounds link you need to SSL-enable your entire cgi-bin folder so that it is available via a https path. You may be able to do this by SSL-enabling the individual .pm and .pl files within it - it is worth a try anyway.

          I would imagine (if it's anything like Verio's shared hosting) that you may have to have the following in your SSL Network Settings.

          Catalog URL
          https://host19.ipowerweb.com/~YOURUSERNAME/acatalog/

          CGI-BIN URL
          https://host19.ipowerweb.com/~YOURUSERNAME/cgi-local/

          (or cgi-bin, or whatever your host uses to address their own cgi-bin).

          Try that
