Problems uploading my website for the first time.

Hi there. I am completely new to all this. I am just in the process of uploading my first website, which at the moment is very much in the development stages.

    http://www.adjustablebedshop.co.uk

The links for the products seem to be working fine, but when you click on View Cart it takes you to /Act_PreviewWarningPage.html?ACTION=SHOWCART and it says page cannot be displayed and ditto checkout and login.

What am I doing wrong here? Also, all feedback on the site is very much welcome.

    Thank you very much.

    Welcome TOm.
Did you use Actinic to upload your site or manually?
Actinic must be used to upload.

Hi there. I uploaded the site by first going to Web>Configure Website Details and then after that was sorted I clicked on Web > Send Files. After I change anything I Click on Update Website. Is this the correct way of doing it?

you need to configure "network settings" go to the Getting started guide, page 23 and 24 ish

start Menu, Actinic v8, getting started.pdf

After you have got the network settings configured correctly then all you have to is click on the 'uparrow' icon on the toolbar. Or in the Web menu list select Update Website - not Send Files.

"This is what I did earlier on" - which part are you referring to?

If you used the Send Files selection on the menu then that was the wrong way to do it. You need to select Update Website instead.

Sorry, I should have made that more clear. Sorry.

I mean I configured the network settings and clicked on the arrows icon to upload my site. Is it looking for the wrong file when you click on checkout etc? Should it be looking for something in the CGI bin?

Try this - go to Help - Troubleshooting and click on Web Site Purge and Refresh.

Unfortunately the troubleshooting doesn't work either. Could the links in the checkout etc. buttons somehow have got messed up at some point?

In examining the html code I've found that the checkout button is pointing to file:///C:/Program Files/Actinic v8/Sites/adjustable bed shop/PreviewHTML/index.html

This can't be right, can it? If not, any ideas where it should be pointing?

                      Thanks.

Was the Web Site Purge and Refresh successfully completed without error?
If so then check in design view and clcik on the cart button, you can then see the code for it in the code pane.

Otherwise consider, taking a snapshot and then changing the theme and see if the problem persists.

The URLs prefixed with Act_PreviewWarningPage... should only show when you are previewing on your local pc.

Yes the troubleshooting was completed with no errors. Changing the theme didn't do anything, however, I did manage to point it to what I think may be the correct .pl file. BUT the page doesn't seem to load correctly.

If you go to http://www.adjustablebedshop.co.uk and then click on view cart you'll see what I mean. Have you any idea what's causing this? I haven't touched that page in Actinic and when I view it in design mode it looks sopt on.

                            Tom

Are you able to post your web configuration settings here?
I've had a look at your site and there isn't anything pointing to your cgi-bin at all

Perhaps a complete House keeping/purge then a complete site refresh might be in order here

Sorry to sound thick, but how do I do that? Where are those settings?
