    ALT tags and external Javascript....(!)

Had my Catalog 6 site scrutinised by a firm of web promotion specialists, and they've come up with two separate points:

    1) I need ALT tags on some of the images - can Catalog 6 do this?

    2) Because of the heavy Javascript generated, can I set Catalog to place the scripts underneath the metatags etc?

I might add that I can't add any tweaks manually, as the site is maintained by three people over four PCs in separate locations - oh, the joy of having my code overwritten!

Will be very grateful for any help....

The Alt tags raise the issue of the US Government's Section 508 requirements for government work. That section requires alt tages on every image (among a lot of things). This is so blind people can use tools to read and understand the page. Perhaps something for the wish list.

      Thanks Bob.

      Appreciate the comment.
But this is more of a "how can I add ALT tags in Actinic" than "what are ALT tags" question...

Mind you, considering the website is for fieldsports accessories, the idea of blind people ordering shooting equipment is a bit worrying! <grins>

      Cheers

Actinic will place an alt tag over all images in a site <!--Provided you have not commented them out -->

Gary - you're absolutely right. How embarrassing. I never even looked! I assumed that the web promotion people were right and that the tags were missing. Lucky you can't see how red my face is.....

Only the problem with the Javascript to go, then.....

I'm pretty sure that the JavaScript in the <HEAD> section could be moved to just above the </HEAD>, leaving you an uncluttered top of the page for your own tags, etc. Just keep it in the same sequence as before.

You do this in Act_Primary.html and Act_BrochurePrimary.html (if using Brochure). You'd just have to send these two files to your other systems to stick in their Site1 folder to keep them up-to-date.
