    Error accessing the cgi-bin!?

Hi we keep getting an error when uploading our site:

    Error accessing the cgi-bin.

    Possible Cause:
The directory does not exist on the remote server
The permissions on the directory on the
    remote server are locked
The wrong Path to the CGI-BIN is specified in your
    web site details in
    the Business Settings
    Recommendation:
    Abort
    Resolution:
Run the Web | Configure Web Site Details command to verify your setup
Create the cgi-bin directory on the remote server
Correct the permissions on the cgi-bin directory on
    the remote server

when i access the ftp the cgi-bin folder is present and accessable, so don't know where the problem is stemming from.

Anyone had a similar problem or know how to address this one!?

Loads of posts on this subject - I assume you have tried all the suggested fixes?

Before trying to upload make sure you can successfully run a network test without errors.

Run the network test note the errors and report them here with an export of the network settings (without passwords), your host and hosting package. Someone will then be able to help further.

            Network Settings | Network test

Right i have attached two pics. The first showing the settings i am currently using in Atinic, and the second shows the results of a network test i did a couple of minutes ago.

I been experiencing very weird behaviour by my FTP timing out alot when accesing, eccpessially when in the htdocs/acatalog, when talking to my host company on the phone they informed me there was over 9 thousand files in the folder. Could this be causing the timeouts i'm expericing!?

I notice you are on Fasthosts - I was having the same problem last night - seems to have resolved itself now.

Yeh we are hosted through fasthosts, but we pay our subscription to them through another hosting company. The guy from Semlyen.net (the other hosting comany) told us there was 9000 files within the acatolog folder, aswell as a test folder, which in turn holds another acatalog folder with a similar number of files. Now i'm not sure if that is a big number file for a sever, but we have unlimited storage and bandwidth with fasthosts apperently. I don't know if the problem lies with Actinic or our sever.

Is it common practice for Actinic to upload everything from the site1 folder into the acatalog folder with /htdocs/acatalog?

                    Hi,

here was 9000 files within the acatolog folder, aswell as a test folder, which in turn holds another acatalog folder with a similar number of files
The 'acatalog/test/acatalog/' folder means that at some point you have uploaded the site in 'test mode'. This should have been deleted when you switched back to 'production mode' unless the internet connection was disconnected at the time you did this. You can manually delete the 'test' folder to get rid of the duplicate files and clear some space without upsetting the live site.

Is it common practice for Actinic to upload everything from the site1 folder into the acatalog folder with /htdocs/acatalog?
All files that are required for your site will be uploaded to the 'acatalog' folder and cgi scripts will go into the 'cgi-bin' folder.

Has this ever worked? Have you checked the permissions on the folders (755 for 'cgi-bin' and 777 for 'acatalog')?

It would be better if you had posted this in a new thread as the problem that was posted initially in this thread may not have been resolved and having two problems running together will be confusing.

                      Some suggestions:
Firstly check that you can manually connect to your server space using an FTP client.
Why are you using frames within domain-holding.co.uk?
                      Try changing CATALOGURL to:
                      http://www.trentshop.co.uk/acatalog/
