Upload Error After Upgrade

Hi I have a problem with my site after upgrading from v7 to 8 (I also had the same problem when going from 5 to 7. After load in v8 and importing I then fixed all the errors with the themes layouts etc but then when I went to upload I got an error message 'An error occured while uploading the merge request' I have removed the site from my web server and refreshed, manualy uploaded the files and refreshed but I am still stuck so any help or advice would be greatfully appreciated as it is starting to hurt my head

Problem Still There

Hi Thanks for the response, I have tried resetting the permissions on all the required folders to 777 but I still get a the error 'an error occured while sending the merge request' when uploading

anyone got any ideas
