    FTP Error when uploading site

Hi, I am new to this site and applogise if this question has been answered before but I am having problems uploading my site(Actinic V8)

I have previously had no problems and the site was working well but when I just tried to update some items I had the following message

"An FTP error occurred. Error: A connection with the server could not be established"

I have run a test on the network setttings and have this message

"An error occurred when trying to connect to the server. This can happen when the server is unreachable or you have set up an SSL server, but this server can not accept SSL connections, or Windows is confused about proxy settings. If you have Internet Explorer or another application configured to work with a proxy, the settings should be the same for Actinic. Please check your connection first."

Unfortunately I am in need of a dummies guide to checking my settings and getting me out of this mess.

    Hope you can help

    Kevin

Probably just a blip with your hosting account, try again in half hour.

Hi, unfortunately I had tried a few times and still the same result. I asked my host provider and they said all seems fine their end. I checked the knowledge base that suggested it might be firewall related but I have just taken this down for 5 mins and had the same errors as before.

Try connecting to your webspace manually with an ftp client (such as SmartFTP, CuteFTP or similar) using the same username and password as configured in Actinic.

Heck, just type the ftp address into your browser - that will prompt you for the username and password - IF the FTP server is running.

Bill's right - but you have to type ftp:<server address>
