Fasthosts SSL Certificate - Cookie problem

    Hi all,

We've recently switched from Thawte's ssl to fasthosts ssl thinking it would be easier, how wrong I was!

I've followed fasthosts help with actinic exactly (http://www.fasthosts.co.uk/knowledge...article_id=738) and there seems to be a few problems.

Having put in all my details in the ssl section of the network settings and testing the connection, which works, there's some problems.

When I goto the website (www.euroschools.co.uk) and try adding some products it gives me a cookie error:

"This shopping application requires permission to use cookies on your machine, but this has been denied.

This can be for several different reasons, but they are all under your control:

    - you may have disallowed cookies altogether in your browser

    - you may have the privacy policy in your browser or internet security software/firewall set to a level that stops cookies from being used by this shopping site

Cookies in this shopping application are used to keep track of your basket contents, remember names and addresses when you ask for them to be remembered and, when relevant, keep you logged on.

Cookies are not used in any way that abuses your privacy or security.

Please change your settings to allow cookies either in your browser or firewall. If you choose not to, I'm afraid that we cannot complete your request.

Please click here to return to the catalog."

Has anyone had a problems with this? Do you get a cookie error when you try the website? Like I said, when I tested the connection it passed all the tests. I have no idea what else to try and would be very greatful if anyone can help!

    Thanks
    Rob

if you go to https://www dot euroschools.co.uk and examine the SSL cert it says it expired on 13/12/2007 and there is an error message saying the thwate cert is invalid.

thus it seems to me the fasthost ssl is not installed

get rid of the thwate logo and reinstall

      Thanks for replying Pinbrook.

We simply haven't removed the thawte logo. We've put the fasthosts one on (when you goto www.euroschools.co.uk it should goto https://vault2.secured-url.com/Secur...ing/index.html) and it seems to be working because you can see it in the browser address bar. It's just the cookie's causing us problems.

      Thanks

Sorry my mistake,i was assuming the cert would be on domain.

however the cookie error is a firefox error, there are other threads that discuss this as it is a common error

however if i try to buy using IE6 i get the basket emptying problem which is symptomatic of changing urls.

again the basket emptying is a common errror and will be documented

i don't know if fasthosts` have changed the way they work with actinic but it always used to bethe case that the whole site had to be within https

We've put the fasthosts one on (when you goto www.euroschools.co.uk it should goto https://vault2.secured-url.com/Secur...ing/index.html) and it seems to be working because you can see it in the browser address bar.
when i used the link above it shows me www dot euroschools dot co dot uk in the browser bar - after a long wait

            FastHosts and Actinic SSL

I can confirm that for Fasthosts you need to have the entire actinic site within the shared SSL folder to be able to use SSL properly.
