An FTP error occurred. Error: The operation timed out

    Actinic V8
We are constantly getting problems trying to upload files to the server using actinic.
I have refreshed the site and this also poses a problem if I do not tick exclude images and download files.
Is there a restriction to how much you can upload?
Can I upload them via FTP to a directory as I cannot find where they are put?

Sounds like pants hosting to me, who you with?
Actinic has to do all uploads, there is no restriction, switching on enhanced ftp may help.

hosting with webfusion in our own virtual server.
Has been ok for last few years.
      Enhanced FTP ticked already.
Website updates quickly only when digital downloads we get the problem.

If you have 'Use passive ftp transfer' ticked then try unticking it (and vice-versa).

              Hi,

How big are your digital download files that you are uploading? Does your hosting server have any timeout restrictions set on it?

They are upto 14mb most a lot smaller normally arround 384kb.

I can see no reference for time out we have either Virtuozzo interface for the server or Plesk.

                Cheers for your reply.

Does it always time out at the same point (ie on the same file)?

I can see no reference for time out
It might be worth checking with your host.

It would be useful if you are able to upload your site to a different server to find out if it is a server issue or not. That could at least start narrowing down the problem. If you do not have anywhere else to upload it to contact support (via phone if you have a cover contract or the web form if you don't) and they should be able to provide you with some test space.
