FTP error 500????

Hello,

when I'm trying to connect to my FTP server (using Actinic 8) i get this message:

"An error occured while checking the FTP transfer mode -- 500? Try using the other mode."


I did try both: passive and active mode, but didn't help.

When I use 'normal' FTP software it's working fine


Would you know how to solve this?

Hi,

I've only seen one other report of this problem and it seems that the error message means that the FTP server doesn't support SITE CHMOD command or it is not allowed your account. You should check this with your hosting company as it is stopping our scripts from setting the correct permissions on files.

it's all working fine now - maybe my new ftp account wasn't fully activated or sth. Thanks a lot anyway!
