    password protected directory

    Hi,

I am trying to run actinic from a password protected directory as i need to control who accesses to the store and the content etc.

Everything works fine until checkout point. At this point customer is required the enter the user name and password again few times. (which is not ideal!)

I suppose as the checkout is under SSL , system does not recognise the user and wants to validate the credential again.

With the previous server , i overcomed this proplem by only password protecting the http directory as http and https were under different directories.

With new server(cpanel) everything is under one directory.

I have tried to separate them manually by creating a different unprotected directory for https part , but failed to load the actinic to the server.

I have tried to runthe http and https under diiferent server, end it up with several errors.

Has anybody tried to do what i am trying to do or know any solution to my problem.

    regards

Customer login is the way to go - not htaccess

thank you for your reply but customer login only stops people purchasing.

I need to have the prices and products pictures kept private as well as this is a wholesale website.

I run a wholesale site using Actinic- anyone can see the product but only registered customers can log in and order. It works fine- the general public can view (as can the SEO robots which helps with publicity) but if they want to buy they have to contact us for their local stockist. Retailers like it as they can point customers towards the site, either in the shop or elsewhere, knowing they won't lose the sale.
Why do you need the product pictures kept private? Surely you're looking to publicise your products?
