    CGI-BIN error, really frustrating. 4sure V9

After speaking to actinic support I'm told these settings work:
    Code:
    HTTPPROXYMODE	0
    HTTPPROXYADDRESS
    HTTPPROXYPORT	80
    HTTPPROXYUSER
    HTTPPROXYPASSWORD
    FTPPROXYMODE	0
    FTPPROXYADDRESS
    FTPPROXYPORT	21
    FTPPROXYUSER
    FTPPROXYPASSWORD
    SCRIPTID	2
    SCRIPTEXT	.pl
    SMTPHOST	123
    WEBSITEURL	http://www.onboardenergy.co.uk/
    IGNOREPASSIVEERRORS	true
    USERELATIVECGIURLS	true
    PATHTOPERL	/usr/bin/perl
    USEENHANCEFTP	true
    FTPCLIENTTIMEOUT	15000
    FTPRETRYDELAY	3000
    FTPSILENT	false
    FTPMAXRETRIES	3
    FTPCONNECTTIMEOUT	25000
    SMTPAUTHREQUIRED	false
    SMTPUSERNAME
    SMTPPASSWORD
    CATALOGURL	http://www.onboardenergy.co.uk/acatalog/
    ONLINESTOREFOLDERNAME	acatalog
    CGIBINURL	http://www.onboardenergy.co.uk/cgi-bin/
    PATHFROMCGITOCATALOG	../acatalog/
    CODEBASE	./
    FTPHOST	ftp.onboardenergy.co.uk
    FTPUSERNAME	xxxxxxxxx
    FTPPASSWORD	xxxxxxxxxxx
    PATHTOCGIBIN	/public_html/cgi-bin/
    USEPASSIVEFTP	true
    FTPPATHFROMCGITOCATALOG	/public_html/acatalog/
Problem being that I'm receiving the following error when clicking on 'Test'.

You do not have write permissions to the cgi-bin directory "/public_html/cgi-bin/" or it does not exist.

After emails back and forth actinic believe that there is a problem with my firewall settings. Both Norton and Windows firewall are switched off and access to ftp ports through the router are available.

I've spent way too long trying to solve this, any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Managed to get things 'working'... although I'm now receiving an Internal Server Error with all the scripts that actinic has uploaded. Any suggestions?

On the network test... still getting the cgi-bin error.

      Thanks.

ftp to your account and check the permissions of your cgi-bin, these should be 755.

there are a few members here that use 4sure and i also know that they have problems.

              Adam,
Are you still having problems with this?
              If so, try this

              Web > Network Setting
Change the CGI script ID to a different number.

FTP into your site and remove ALL the contents of the cgi-bin

Help > Troubleshooting >Web Site Purge and Refresh

Tick ALL THREE boxes and click 'Delete and refresh'

Note: If you have any perl script modifications, you will need to re-do and upload this again after the purge and refresh.

              See if that helps

What do 4sure say? Their support is usually very fast and they're the people who know their webhosting best.

                  Hi guys,

Thanks for your help so far. It seemed to be a problem with the setup on my PC. I installed actinic on another machine on the same network and the test settings worked. However, when I press 'refresh website' it goes all the way until the end and gives me another cgi-bin permission error.

                  Cheers

The Website Purge and Refresh button is blanked out?

ok...the fact that you've not yet managed a completely successful upload could be the reason it's greyed out.

Just try a refresh instead of a purge and refresh then but ensure you follow all the other steps (ie changing script ID and removing old cgi-bin contents)

ps..I'll repeat Mike's reply about contacting 4sure. I presume you've done this. Their tech/Actinic support is excellent

I've managed to solve the CGI-BIN problem but am still extremely frustrated.

It seems that V9 is giving the problem when anything from V6 is imported (or the upgrade option at installation). This leaves me with no catalog! Is there a way around this without importing anything as such?

                        Thanks.

i don't think you can go 6 to 8/ 9, you need to upgrade 6 to 7 then you can go to 8/9

you can get a 30 day download of 7 from the download area at actinic website
