Hi, I'm trying to upload my site onto our hosts again as our license expired. I have run the Configure Web Site details but keep getting 'unable to move to th cgi-bin directory'.
Do the network test Dal and see what it reports. There is also a wizard to help with this area, you may be wise to try that if you are not too hot in this area. You must pass a network test for trouble free operation.
the site has been working before it expired. Does the cgi-bin change??
sorry to sound dumb as i'm new to this, but where will i find it?
you say it has expired, im guessing it s a trial copy then? so you intending on uploading again, is this from a snapshot, in which case the settings would be included, or are you starting from scratch.
no the cgi bin does not change providing its the same host, url e.t.c
whos the host?
As Lee said try using the wizard to determine your network settings
"Unable to move to the cgi-bin directory "public/www/cgi-bin/" on the FTP server.
The specified directory does not exist or you do not have access to the directory."
So does this mean it doesn't exist on the hosts server?
I have taken over this from another member of staff who has consequently left so not too sure about the FTP directory
Well as Mike said it either does not exist, of you don't have the correct permissions, you need to ftp to it and check it is there, then make sure the permissions are set to 755
you will need an ftp client, something like filezilla, then log on to your ftp area and then check the folder permissions, normally selecting the folder and right clicking and selecting permissions or chmod
