Web Server Error when downloading Orders - Help

Have tried download orders this morning using the One Stop Automation plugin that we use with no problems and received this error message

Actinic received a server error from the web server. The CGI scripts are not executing properly on the server. Run Web | Configure Web Site Details... to review your web site configuration.
We have had no problems at all, so there are no problems with our settings.

Am at this minute re-uploading the website, which it is doing at the min.

Am just wondering if this has anything to do with the fact that our web host could be updating our version of PHP.

I requested them to do so this morning, in order to comply with our PCI Compliance.

    Could this be a reason?

    Thanks.

Have you run the Network Test and checked the folder permissions.

Am currently uploading the site at the minute which appears to be uploading fine ...

Will try to retrieve orders again once finished, and do network tests.

      Thanks.

Just for reference, what should the folder permissions be set to again?

have just checked on our site and when you search for a product that uses cgi scripts it fails, receive an internal server error 500

Obviously an issue here with our web host - grrr

Sometimes things get corrupted a web refresh normally fixes it, as Duncan said check the folder permissions but if ordering is still working then probably a quirk.

It seems having phoned our web hosting company up there is an issue at their end, so a case of waiting till they sort it out.

Any pages that use cgi-scripting just bring up an internal server error.
So things like product searching, adding products to basket, checkout, etc are not working.

It failed right at the end on an upload of the site as well when doing the "merge".

Have orders to download as well ....

Have checked through FTP and these are O.K

The message am getting when I do a network test.

Actinic received a server error from the web server. The CGI scripts are not executing properly on the server. Run Web | Configure Web Site Details... to review your web site configuration.
The test script failed to execute on the web server. The error could be caused by several things. Check the path to the Perl shell, the CGI script extension, the path to CGI-BIN, and the CGI-BIN URL. This error could also occur if your web site is out of disk space or your web server is not configured to accept POSTs to CGI scripts.
i no the paths are correct because they have not been tampered with at all.

Gavin, you said yourself the the hosting company are having problems so what makes you think that anything you check or do is going to fix it?

Because i dont have 100% faith in what they do TBH lol.
I just want to check at my end anything relating to these problems
                        i.e. permissions, etc.

From previous experience they tend to miss out on simple mistakes.

I.E This morning requested them to upgrade PHP to latest version, and this problem occurs ... see what i mean?

Ideally would prefer to change hosting company but its not my decision.

sounds to me like they need to rebuild the apache/perl
