    Actinic Express Google Indexing Problem

I've tried to find a thread allready discussing this topic, and can't, but my appologies if i'm regurgitating a previously asked question...

I recently updated some prices on my site...

I'm using a PC with windows XP Home version 2002, service pack 3, and Actinic Express

However, when I search for the item I've updated the price of in Google, Yahoo, or Ask, the information that comes up in the tag line has my OLD PRICE?

Can anyone help me with this...

I'm not the most computer literate person in the world so, if it is a stupid mistake on my part, can anyone inform me how I can alter this?

I've been in touch with Actinic Support who assure me it's not really got much to do with them...

Apparantly the Google bots/spiders should refresh information and automatically have the latest most upto date information, but this doesn't appear to be the case.

    Help? Please?

Sorry if this question is a bit long!

    James

Well either the express forum or the seo forum would have been a better place for this question, but never mind, i think you are just experiencing a lag between the change you did and the search engines updating their listings. It is not an instant change and if your site is uninteresting to the SEs, they will hardly ever visit to refresh their listings. Do the correct prices show online when you visit the pages? If so, then just sit tight and be patient, it will happen.

      Cheers Lee,

And appologies for the incorrectness of my posting place...

The item price was updated before Christmas, so I've waited as long as my temper will allow me to.

How can I make my site interesting to the search engines to avoid this in future

        James,

Your homepage http://www.raygillclothing.co.uk/ has a Google rank of 2/10, but is the only page of your whole site that is index by Google.

I don't know much about express, I'm afraid, but the URLs are pretty ugly:

        http://shop1.actinicexpress.co.uk/sh...d4bc5b6326daaa

I guess default Express, this may not be helping. Having said that there are plenty of people running express sites, perhaps they could comment on their indexing?

I was going to suggest adding a link to your site map, but there's already one at the top.

Does anyone have any opinions about having another link in his footer?

Google will rank your page based on how "good" it feels it is. There are far better people on the forum that will be able to tell you how Google come to these conclusions and probably lots on the net too.

Your problem, as I see it, is that Google (and Yahoo, I just checked) are only aware of your home page.

                Your page:

                http://shop1.actinicexpress.co.uk/sh...d4bc5b6326daaa

for example in Actinic Catalog would be

                http://www.raygillclothing.co.uk/aca...TYLE_EQUIPMENT

                or similar.

As you can see it's much more concise and easier to follow. Making more sense to SE and customers.

As I said before I know very little of express, but if there a facility to use "Search Engine Friendly" URLs?

James, I've edited the title of your thread to more accurately identify the real issue.

                  Regards,

I think you are getting confused here as Google has nothing to do with what is shown on a live site. Google generates its search results from its cached pages and when surfers click on the search result they are taken to the live site NOT the chached page which could be out of date.

If the price is wrong on the live site then its an Express problem

As Lee says I believe that the issue is that Google is caching the previous version of the page, and the cache is not being refreshed very often as Google isn't ranking the site highly. I don't believe there is any issue with the actual pricing in Express.

To help the Google (and other) rankings, Express does have a number of search engine optimisation features, including specifying the page file name, page title and keywords. These features can be accessed when logged in as the store administrator, then clicking "Setup store | edit store contents" and then editing each section.

Incidentally, Express has a special offer of £1 for the first month and no setup fee at the moment.

The question is does the price you entered into the express control panel match that shown on the live site - if it does then all is working correctly if not then there is a problem.

As always a URL of the love page and the price that should be showing will solve the question in seconds
