Actinic received a server error from the web server.

We are having troubles uploading my shop to the web server using V9.

When we try to upload the store we get this error mesage:

"Actinic received a server error from the web server. The CGI scripts are not executing properly on the server. The error could be caused by several things. Check:
    - the 'Path to the Perl shell'
    - the 'CGI script extension'
    - the 'Path to CGI-BIN'
    - the 'CGI-BIN URL.
    - the amount of web space left on your server
    - if your server is configured to accept POSTs to CGI scripts
    - the permissions on the server:

On Linux/Unix based servers the permissions should be:
    cgi-bin (755) – drwxr-xr-x
Online Store Folder (777) – drwxrwxrwx
On Windows based servers (need to be checked with the hosting company):
    IIS
    cgi-bin = read/execute
    Online Store Folder = read/write/execute
    NTFS
cgi-bin = Catalog's FTP account needs 'Change' permissions on the directory
Online Store Folder = Catalog's FTP account needs 'Change' permissions on the directory AND the IUSR_<servername> account needs to have 'Change' permissions on the directory

Run Web | Configure Web Site Details... to review your web site configuration."

We have double checked the folder permissions and they are correct.

    Any ideas?

have you ever uploaded to this server?
what version of 9 are you using?
have you just upgraded to 9.0.4?
your path to cgibin might not need the httpdocs part, although this is dependant on the server setup.

can you create an ftp account that only has access to the www root then use this to upload and also remove the httpdocs part of the settings if you do.

oh and who is your host?

And to add to Darren's list:

      - Best to get it working without SSL first and then add SSL once everything else works OK.

        In order......

"have you ever uploaded to this server?" - NO

"what version of 9 are you using?" - 9.0.4

"have you just upgraded to 9.0.4?" - NO

"can you create an ftp account that only has access to the www root then use this to upload and also remove the httpdocs part of the settings if you do." - I have created an FTP account and it has full access.

"oh and who is your host?" - ummmm Actinic!

"Best to get it working without SSL first and then add SSL once everything else works OK." - How?

I am a little flumoxed, we had tit running previously, under a diferent doamin name. We have made some changes and had to change the domain, so we deleted the previous and upload to the new domain (the shop isn't finished yet...... long story). Thats when the problems started.

We have even tried going down the route of changing the server permission to 777.

i would definately contact Actinic if its there hosting for a start.

when i said about an ftp account with only access to the root i ment the part you would see if using a browser, the directory structure below the httpdocs.

interesting the ip address in your post points to another company, nothing wrong with this but i was supprised when you mentioned actinic though

I'm surprised that Actinic don't have a set of typical Actinic Hosting network settings published on the website or in the KB.

"oh and who is your host?" - ummmm Actinic!
you can phone support as you are a hosting client - support for hosting is separate to support for software
