    Folder Permissions

Having read the sticky at the top of this page, I understand that in order to successfully upload my webstore, I need to change the folder permissions of my cgi-bin and acatalog to 755 and 777 respectively. I presume this refers to the permissions of the folders of my FTP directory in my webhost, which is Fasthost. I can see that the permissions of two folders cgi-bin and acatalog are currently set to rw_______. How do I actually change the permissions? There appears to be no way of changing them in the FTP folder.

I should add that I'm using Windows and NTFS. It's the first time I've tried to upload to my website. Whilst trying to upload I get an error message which says that the permissions need to be changed to 777.

Welcome to the forum Martyn. A large number of people have problems with Fashosts - search the forum and you will see many posts about them. Fasthosts have even admitted that they don't support Actinic on occasion. There are some people who are using Fasthosts mind but they are few and far between. I would consider changing hosts as well as using a linux package.

If you use an Actinic specialist host such as Actinic themselves or Pinbrook or even a cheaper host like 1and1 on linux you can be up and running in minutes.

I stuck with Fasthosts but I changed my webhosting package to a Linux based host rather than Windows based, as you suggested, and my webstore now loads correctly.
